Omar condoles death of Captain, satisfied over rescue of civilians in J&K encounter

SRINAGAR :  Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today condoled the death of Army captain Pawan Kumar in an ongoing operation against militants who are trapped inside a government building at Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
However, he expressed satisfaction over the safe rescue of all students, officials and civilians from Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), where militants stormed after attacking a CRPF convoy in which two personnel were killed and 13 others, including an officer, were injured. A civilians gardener Abdul Gani was also killed after hit by a bullet near the encounter site.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, Mr Abdullah said, May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family, loved ones & colleagues.
He was reacting to a tweet which said  22-yr-old Army captain Pawan Kumar martyred in an ongoing encounter with terrorists that started yesterday in J&K’s Pampore. Mr Abdullah further tweeted, Good job by the first responders getting all the civilians out from EDI.”
