JAMMU, Nov 3: Paying rich homage to the martyrs of Karbala on the eve of Ashura Muharram, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that Imam Hussain (AS) symbolizes the firm faith in Almighty, high principles of righteousness, purity of thought and highest degree of sacrifice to uphold truth and human dignity.
Omar said that Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions exhibited unparalleled courage and patience and made historic sacrifices at Karbala which would enlighten and guide the mankind forever.
“Karbala teaches us the lesson of upholding the principles of righteousness under all circumstances and denying evil forces to make us succumb or bow before them”, Omar added.
The Chief Minister prayed for the peace and well being of the State and its people.
Meanwhile, in a special message on the Youm-e-Ashura, National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that the ultimate sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Husayn (RA) was a beacon of light for Muslims and for the glory of Islam.
He said that the message from Karbala that will resonate till eternity is that of faith and justice and the struggle of Imam Husayn (RA) for the cause of Islam and peace.
“Our unity would be the biggest tribute to Hazrat Imam Husayn (RA) and his companions”, Dr. Farooq said.
