Omar hails Rahul for handling fiasco

SRINAGAR, Dec 8:  Lauding Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for handling Mani Shankar Aiyar row like a ‘leader’, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said BJP was left struggling to explain why their party never takes action against the people who indulge in abusive and insulting speech.
In a series of tweets, Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), hit out at  BJP and also lauded Gandhi for handing the ‘neech fiasco’.
“If anyone had doubts about Mr Gandhi’s willingness to take quick and decisive action should put those  doubts to rest. He has handled the #Neech fiasco like a leader,” he wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
“Well done Rahul. Good for you,” he added.
Abdullah also upped the ante at BJP, saying, “Spare a thought for the BJP spokies. They thought  they’d be lording over their Congress counterparts tonight.”
“Instead they are left struggling to explain why their party never takes action against the people who  indulge in abusive & insulting speech,” he said.
“Gotta hand it to the PM though, if you bowl such loose deliveries in the slog overs he’s going to hit them for a six & that’s what’s been done with the neech nonsense,” the NC working president said.
“If I had as many loose cannons in my party as the Congress seems to have I’d be even more of a basket case than I am now,” he added.
Abdullah was responding to Gandhi’s decision to suspend senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar for his “neech” comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“BJP and PM routinely use filthy language to attack the Congress party. The Congress has a different culture and heritage. I do not appreciate the tone and language used by Mani Shankar Aiyar to address the PM. Both the Congress and I expect him to apologise for what he said,” Gandhi wrote on twitter.
