She demanded that the affected families should be given soft loans and should be helped with wood so that they could rebuild their houseboats.
“Every possible help should be extended to them while the LG-led administration needs to take note of it immediately,” she said.
On the other hand, the NC-Vice President, Omar Abdullah has said that his father and member of Parliament from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah highlighted the incident during the Zero Hour in parliament and urged the Government for necessary compensation.
“Visited Nageen lake to meet the owners of the houseboats that were gutted in a recent fire. The owners ensured that all the tourists were evacuated safely even though that meant they weren’t able to shift some of the boats away from the path of the fire,” Omar tweeted.
In a statement issued here, NC said that Dr Farooq Abdullah asked Government to extend every possible help to houseboat owners in Nigeen Lake in Srinagar.
“He impressed upon the ministry of tourism to come to the rescue of houseboat owners, whose houseboats were gutted in a devastating blaze the other day in the Nigeen Lake in Srinagar. He asked the concerned ministry to help the affected owners by providing them with subsidised wood and other required items,” the statement said.
