Omar ups ante over BJP, PDP over delay in Govt formation

SRINAGAR :  Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today said Peoples Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party supported each other in Rajya Sahba (RS) and Legislative Council election seats and yet expect people to believe that no tie up has been reached over Government formation.
“I have to ask – PDP/BJP support each other for the RS  polls, repeat for the Leg. council seats & expect people to believe no tie up yet? ” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.    Upping the ante at PDP and BJP, Mr Abdullah, in a serious  of tweets over the past few days, had alleged that PDP and BJP were trying to fool the people on government formation.    ‘If there are ‘hurdles’ in @BJP4India & @jkpdp alliance  talks as we keep being told by ‘sources’ how come they manage seat sharing so easily,’ Mr Abdullah wrote on twitter on February 17.    ‘Both for the Rajya Sabha & MLC elections seat sharing has been effortless for them so who are they trying to fool on Govt formation,’ he had stated.
The PDP emerged single largest party in the  87-member-House with 28 seats followed by BJP with 25 seats.    The NC got 15 seats while the Congress could manage just  12 seats while two seats were won by Peoples Conference (PC), one each by CPI(M), Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and Awami Itehand Party (AIP) and two seats went to independents.    Even though the NC and Congress had announced  unconditional support to PDP, the Mufti-led party preferred to hold talks with BJP to form a coalition government in the state.    On February 16, Mr Abdullah, who lost Sonawar seat in Srinagar but won Beerwa in central Kashmir district of Badgam, said, ‘After a bitterly contested election it’s nice to see Mehboobaji attending the wedding reception of BJP leader Amit Shah’s son.’ (AGENCIES)
