JAMMU, May 17: Vowing to stage a historic comeback after massive drubbing in the Parliamentary elections, Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah tonight declared that the NC would stage a strong and historic comeback by coming up to expectations of the people and rising to their expectations.
In a series of tweets tonight, in some of which he turned emotional and poetic Omar, whose National Conference drew a blank by losing all three Lok Sabha seats, it contested, to main opposition People’s Democratic Party, said the NC has always survived and sustained and it would again do the same by scripting a historic comeback.
Without mentioning about the Assembly elections, which were just few months away, Omar wrote on the micro-blogging site tweeter: “we have always survived and sustained. We have bled on our flag and never allowed it to fade. From here, we will script a historic comeback’’.
Asserting that the National Conference has served the people for last five year with dedication, Omar said: “today we acknowledge your grievances and now we will rise to your expectations. We are humbled by your verdict. This is as good a place to start learning and embarking on a new journey. We will learn. We will grow’’.
Turning emotional and poetic, Omar wrote: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair…Charles Dickens in a Tale of Two Cities and words that I identify with closely’’.
