JAMMU, Mar 20: Sikh United Front (SUF) has said that even after the passage of 25 years, justice has been awaited to the victims of Chittisinghpura in Kashmir.
A meeting of various Sikh organizations was held under the Chairmanship of Sudershan Singh Wazir Chairman Sikh United Front J&K in which Wazir stated that it has been more than 25 years since the Sikhs were killed in Chittisinghpura in March 2000 by unknown assailants in a cold blooded massacre and justice is still awaited to the families.
Recalling the incident Wazir held that on the night of March 20, 2000 unknown assailants lined up 36 unarmed Sikhs at Chittisinghpura village in Anantnag district and shot them dead brutally since then no one know about the perpetrators and victims are still awaiting truth to be uncovered.
While expressing sympathy SUF leader held that whole of Sikh community is standing in solidarity with the victims/their families and applaud the courage and bravery shown by the Kashmiri Sikh community that they have been fighting for the cause from last 25 years and never left the Kashmir and still they are residing in that very village, on the other hand those who left Kashmir and became migrants were given special reservations in colleges universities and in jobs and along with monthly allowances but the government failed to provide any adequate relief to victims of Chittisinghpura and Mehjoor Nagar in which several Sikh police officers were also killed they were given only meagre one lakh rupees and one government job as compensation.
At the time of massacre there was BJP Government led by late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and coincidently on 25th year of incident it’s the same BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi which reopened the cases of 1984 riots. The Sikh organizations demand to tell the truth and progress of investigation as how long it will take to reach it’s culmination.
Meanwhile, All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) led by Jagmohan Singh Raina has expressed dismay over the delay being caused to provide justice to the Chittisinghpura victims. Raina said that 35 innocent Sikhs were killed in South Kashmir 25 years back but the families have not been accorded justice.
Raina said that delay in justice has created disillusionment among the minds of the Sikh families. Raina hoped that BJP Govt will provide justice to the Sikhs in J&K as it has reopened the case of anit-Sikh riots of 1984.
