On its Raising Day, ICCR showcases Dogri play

JAMMU, Apr 9: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Union Ministry of External Affairs, Regional Office J&K and Ladakh celebrated its 72nd Foundation Day here today with zeal.
On this occasion Dogri play ‘Ghalib at Quarantine’ was staged by Nataraj Natya Kunj group.
The play was written by Roheet Verma and directed by Abhishek Bharti.
The programme started with lighting of lamp by Regional Director ICCR & Regional Passport Officer, N.K Shil and other dignitaries.
A jam-packed audience witnessed the function and the presentation was magnificent reflection of J&K’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, rituals and customs familiarizing young generations with their glorious past.
Welcoming the audience, N.K Shil said that ICCR stresses on exchanging cultural programmes in its effort to develop and strengthen inter-cultural bond, enhance mutual understanding and promote harmonious relationships between India and other countries and its people through such cultural and educational initiatives.
He underlined the efforts constantly being made by RO ICCR Jammu towards preserving and promoting local art, culture and harnessing the local budding artists and bringing foreign students to J&K.
While addressing the students, teachers and faculty in the audience, Shil said that they are the builders of the society and nation and also urged them to continue to shoulder the onerous onus of persistently trying to impart quality and value-based education to the students and ensure their holistic development.
Actors who participated in the play were Balwinder Singh and Anu Thakur; Vishal Pandita, Music Composer; Shobhana Sharma and Vishal Pandita, Singers; Nitish Kumar, Rhythm Player; Virji Sumbly, Set Designer; Shazi Khan and Aaditya Bharti, Light Designers and Anu Thakur, as Make-up Artist also.
Anchoring was done by Abhishek Bharti and vote of thanks was delivered by Reena Slathia, Cultural Officer, ICCR Jammu.
