RAJOURI, Apr 13: In order to celebrate Rajouri Day, many impressive functions were organized in Rajouri today with great enthusiasm and fervour.

On this day BJP senior leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta appealed the residents of Rajouri to celebrate this day like any other national day. Addressing the locals at an impressive function, Vibodh threw light on various historical events related to Rajouri. He said that story of Rajouri is a story of pain and sacrifices and after partition, the town of Rajouri saw massive bloodshed. He further added that it was heroic acts of the patriotic citizens of Rajouri at that time which helped Indian Army to recapture Rajouri on April 13. However, this was marked by bloodshed and many innocent locals were brutally killed by the tribals and Pak army. He along with locals also paid floral tributes to all those brave locals of Rajouri who were martyred by tribals and soldiers of Pak army.
While informing the local youth of the area about the various historical events which led to the liberation of Rajouri from the clutches of tribals of Pakistan, he said that our youth must know about this history. This, he said, will help the younger generation to have a clear picture about our history and accordingly we should be grateful to all those patriotic citizens of Rajouri whose efforts ensured a safe and secure future for us.
On this day Vibodh also highlighted various historical development initiatives being implemented by the present Central and State Governments in Rajouri. He said that besides regular atrocities on the people of Rajouri during the past, the brave people of Rajouri never bowed down to various evil designs of the enemy. This, he said, is the only reason that present Government is also according highest priority to the development of Rajouri.
Giving details of various developmental projects for making Rajouri town a model town, Vibodh said that presently works are simultaneously going on to built new roads, bridges, parking slots and recreational park in Rajouri. He called upon everyone to become part of this massive development programme for Rajouri.
