JAMMU, Sept 20: Excise Department today conducted raids at various locations in Bishnah and RS Pura areas of Jammu during which the team recovered about 600 kg of Lahan, which was destroyed on the spot. The team also arrested a woman with two bottles of illicit liquor.
Under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K, T Angchuk and Deputy excise Commissioner (executive), Jammu, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Excise teams led by ETO, City Excise Range, South Jammu, Naeem Mughal and ETO, Eradication Wing, Jammu, Suresh Sharma, assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors, Manvinder Pal Singh and Sandeep Kumar, conducted a series of raids in Bishnah and RS Pura excise ranges at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Kothey Bulandey, Kotli Mian Fateh, Dablehar, Kotli Charkan and Tara Chak to arrest the menace of illicit distillation.
During the course of raids, a woman namely Kunti Devi wife of Dev Raj, resident of Kothey Bulanday, was arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act 1958, after recovery of two bottles of illicit liquor from her possession.
Besides this, about 600 kg of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, was also recovered by the raiding team from the State land and destroyed on the spot.
