JAMMU, Sept 22: A 22-year old youth allegedly committed suicide in Gadigarh area while four others made abortive attempts on their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residence in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a youth identified as Sunil Kumar (22) son of Jagdish Raj, a resident of Haripur (RS Pura), was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, after he started vomiting at his work place ‘Guru Nanak Pollution Checking Centre” at Karan Bagh, this afternoon.
“However, during treatment the youth expired at about 4.30 pm”, the spokesman said, adding, the body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
In Janipur Colony, an 18-year-old boy identified as Harsh Kumar son of Rakesh Kumar, allegedly made an abortive attempt on his life by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence, following which family members shifted him to GMCh Jammu for treatment.
A youth namely Gulshan (24) son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Sunderbani and at present residing in Kanak Mandi area of Jammu, today allegedly tried to end his life by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence. He was shifted to GMCH for treatment.
Similarly, a man identified as Sanjay Kumar son of late Bittu Ram, resident of Chapyal (Akhnoor) and another man namely Prabhu (35) son of Halku, resident of Sector No 3, Sanjay Nagar (Digiana) also allegedly made abortive bids on their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences. Both were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In all five cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance.
