JAMMU, Mar 10: A woman committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Akhnoor area of city outskirts while a man made an abortive attempt on his life in Khour area.
According to a police spokesman, a woman identified as Pushpa Devi (45) wife of Dewan Chand, resident of Sungal (Akhnoor) yesterday consumed some poisonous substance at her residence. Founding her unconscious, the family members shifted her to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she expired today at about 2.30 AM.
Today, after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
In a separate incident, a man identified as Mukund Lal (45) son of Bhagmal, resident of Chak Malal, was found today unconscious at his residence. He was immediately shifted to GMCH Jammu where doctors said that he had consumed some poisonous substance. The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
