One Corona death in Jammu, 137 cases in Kashmir

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Aug 28: One person died of Corona and 29 others tested positive in Jammu region while 137 fresh cases were reported in Kashmir and eight in the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
A 63-year-old woman hailing from village Badhoon in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities in the Narayana Hospital Katra taking Corona toll in the region to 2165 and district Rajouri to 235.
Among 29 new cases, 14 were reported from Doda, six Kishtwar, three Rajouri, two each in Jammu and Samba and one each in Kathua and Reasi districts.
Ramban, Poonch and Udhampur districts didn’t report any new cases today.
Thirty six persons today recovered from the virus in Jammu region leaving behind 337 active positive cases.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported eight COVID positive cases—four each in Leh and Kargil districts.
Ladakh now has 64 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, there was a slight increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Kashmir today with 137 testing positive.
Those who tested positive include 77 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 16 from Budgam, 9 from Pulwama, 6 from Kupwara, 4 from Anantnag, 3 from Bandipora, 8 from Ganderbal and 4 from Kulgam.
As per officials figures, 72,262 positive cases including 834 deaths and 71,021 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,872 including 282 deaths and 23,497 recoveries are from Baramulla, 23,143 including 22,838 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,325 including 15,087 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,232 including 166 deaths and 14,028 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,446 including 16,203 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,626 cases including 9,482 and 101 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,115 including 9,979 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,410 including 11,245 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,597 including 5,533 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 202,028 including 198,913 recoveries and 2,241 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,211 including 874 from Kashmir division.
With 103 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 319,362, which is 98.29 percent of the total cases.
