JAMMU, Sept 8: Research Hub in Education and Teacher Education of Government College of Education today organised one day workshop on “Basic Statistical Techniques in Educational Research and Education”.
Prof N R Sharma, Former Head and Dean PG Department of Education, University of Jammu and Prof Deep Kumar Bangotra, Assistant Professor of Computer Application, GCOE were the Resource Persons for two technical sessions.
The chief guest of the occasion, Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal of GCOE, in her keynote address shared that the New Education Policy seeks to introduce and implement a sea of changes across all levels of education in India, including the essential understanding of education in the country.
She also said that Research Hub is an initiative of Higher Education Department and GCOE is continuously promoting research in its sector. She further welcomed the faculty members from the Spoke Colleges namely GCW Gandhi Nagar, GCW Kathua, GCW Parade, GCW Udhampur, GDC Doda, GDC Mendhar and GDC Surankote.
Details of Research Hub initiatives was given by Dr Sushma Bala, Coordinator Research Hub.
The first session was taken by Prof N R Sharma in which he said, “to address challenges and opportunities in the field of research, and to help researchers conduct research in an accurate and meaningful way, numerous software products have been developed.” He stressed upon the relevance of SSPS in research specially to the upcoming scholars.
The second session was taken by Prof Deep Kumar Bangotra. He gave a detailed presentation on SPSS– Statistical Package For Social Sciences. He explained the importance of the tool that how it works within the research sector.
Members of the Advisory Committee Prof Anju Bala, Prof Satish K Sharma, Dr Jyoti Parihar, Dr Rajinder Kour, Dr Anuradha Seth, all with members of Research Hub Committee were present on the occasion.
Dr Sushma Bala, Coordinator Research Hub and Dr Shubhra Jamwal Co-coordinator Research Hub and NSS PO adroitly conducted the program along with students of MEd.
