RAJOURI, Jan 27: One person died on the spot and two others were seriously injured in a road accident near Shahdara Sharif in Thannamandi area of Rajouri district on Thursday evening. Reports said a Tata Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK11A- 3468 was going from Thannamandi to Kopra when the driver lost control at a sharp curve near Shahdara Sharif and the vehicle fell into about 50 to 60 feet deep gorge.
In the road accident, three people in the vehicle were seriously injured, who were taken to the Government Hospital, Thannamandi by the local people at their level, where the doctor declared one person as brought dead.
According to the doctor providing treatment, Kopra resident Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdul Hamid was brought dead, while Fakhar Sajjad, son of Mohd Sharif, resident of Kopra and driver Abdul Aziz, son of Faiz Din, resident of Pangai were taken to GMC Rajouri in view of their critical condition after first aid and referred to GMC Jammu.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police has handed over the dead body to the family after post-mortem and completion of other formalities.
Relatives protested for not getting specialist doctor and ambulance while shifting injured to GMC Rajouri from Thannamandi. They shouted slogans alleging that whenever there is an emergency in Thannamandi, doctors are not available here and neither the patient nor the injured are provided ambulances on time.
Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah and SHO Thannamandi Shoket Hussain reached the spot to pacify the protesters.
