RAMBAN, Mar 2: One person died and 24 others fell unconscious due to suffocation in Dedha area of sub division Gool here today during a marriage function.
The unconscious persons were shifted to SDH Gool and District Hospital Ramban.
Police sources said that a generator was placed inside a room for lighting purpose at the marriage function and due to the accumulation of gas 25 persons sleeping in the room fell unconscious.
They said that on getting information all the persons were shifted to SDH Gool where one of them was declared brought dead by the doctors while 24 others were admitted at SDH Gool.
Police informed that 22 persons were discharged after providing necessary medical aid and two identified as Mohammad Asdullah, 70, son of Habibullah and Abdul Gani, 50, son of Allah Din, both residents of Dedha, Gool were referred to Sub-District Hospital Banihal.
Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Tariq, 14, son of Mohammad Ashdullah Hajam, resident of Ban Dachan, Gool.
SHO Police Station Gool Inspector Sameer said the body of deceased was handed over to his family members for last rites.
A case has been registered at Police Station Gool and investigation started.
