One dies, 3 hurt in house collapse

MENDHAR, Oct 26: One person was killed while three others were injured when a muddy house collapsed in Gursai area of Mendhar in district Poonch last night.
Official sources said that a tragic incident took place in remote village – Mori, in Gursai area of Mendhar Sub Division in which one member of a family was buried alive under the debris while three others hurt after the kucha house suddenly collapsed.
They said on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, the roof of a Kutcha house collapsed, trapping four people of a family sleeping under it. As soon as the people nearby got information about the collapse of the house, all the buried people were rescued and rushed to Sub-District Hospital Surankot where the owner of the house, died during treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Riyaz Hussain Shah (55), son of Sabir Hussain Shah, resident of Gursai, Mori while his wife Shamim Akhtar, 52, and relatives Irfan Haider, 30, and Wasif Haider, both sons of Mehboob Hussain, were referred for treatment to the Govt Medical College Rajouri, whose condition is said to be out of danger.
A case has been registered at Gursai Police Station and investigation has been started. As soon as the administration heard the news of the house collapsed, Tehsildar Mendhar Rahul Basotra reached the house of the deceased and provided relief to the victim’s family by giving a cash amount of Rs 20,000 from the Red Cross.
