One dies, 36 test +ve in Jammu

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Aug 20: One person died of COVID-19 and 36 others tested positive in the Jammu region today while 123 fresh cases were reported from Kashmir division and eight from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
A 70-year-old man hailing from village Gulhutti Manjakote in Rajouri district died of pathogen and co-morbidities in the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri today taking Corona toll in Jammu region to 2161 and Rajouri district to 231.
Among 36 COVID positive cases in Jammu region, 14 were registered in Doda district, 10 Jammu, six Rajouri, two Poonch and one each in Ramban, Kishtwar, Samba and Udhampur districts while no cases were recorded in Kathua and Reasi districts.
As against 36 cases, 64 recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,22,679 Corona cases. Among them, 425 are active positives while 1,20,093 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2161 casualties.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported eight COVID positive cases including six in Leh district and two in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 81 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 123 COVID-19 positive cases.
Those who tested positive include 29 from Srinagar, 8 from Baramulla, 4 from Budgam, 2 from Pulwama, 14 from Kupwara, 25 from Anantnag, 11 from Bandipora, 8 from Ganderbal and 22 from Kulgam.
As per officials figures, 71,923 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,834 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,794 including 282 deaths and 23,440 recoveries are from Baramulla, 23,050 including 22,781 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,274 including 15,051 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,192 including 166 deaths and 13,979 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,414 including 16,155 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,586 cases including 9,430 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,058 including 9,912 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,389 including 11,205 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,592 including 5,529 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 201,272 including 198,316 recoveries and 2,240 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,141 including 716 from Kashmir division.
With 126 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 318,409 which is 98.29 percent of the total cases.
