UDHAMPUR, Oct 20: A labourer was killed while five persons were seriously injured when an under construction building collapsed in Barta area here late this evening.
A police spokesman said that some labourers were engaged in the construction of three- storey building by the owner Yash Pal, son of Om Parkash at Barta in Udhampur town. Suddenly, at around 7.20 pm a potion of the building was collapsed. The owner was also there at the time of mishap.
While one of the labourers was buried under the debris and killed on the spot, five others including owner Yash Pal were injured. They were rushed to District Hospital, Udhampur by the locals of the area.
The dead body of the deceased was also later shifted to the mortuary of the Hospital. He was identified as Tanveer Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Ramban.
The other injured labourers were identified as Mushtaq and his son Shafiq, Yasin, son of Mohd Rafiq, residents of Ramban and Lal Chand, resident of Assar in Doda. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
