RAJOURI, Dec 24: An elderly woman died while six other members of a family including three minor children, turned unconscious in their room at village Potha in Kalakote area of district Rajouri during early hours today.
Official sources said that today morning, they were spotted by the neighbourers lying unconscious in their beds and informed police. The local villagers gathered there and found elderly woman, Durgi Devi (76), wife of Katar Singh lying dead. They removed others lying serious to Sub District Hospital, Sunderbani.
It was learnt that they had ignited ‘Sagri’ (wood charcoal heater) in the room during night and due to poisonous gasses, they turned unconscious.
The doctors at Sunderbani provided preliminary treatment and then referred them to GMC Hospital, Jammu. Their condition was now stated to be stable.
They were identified as Pritam Singh (57), son of Kartar Singh; Neelam Devi (50), wife of Pritam Singh; their children-Roshi Devi (18), Jasbir Singh (11), Palki Devi (9) and Raghav (04). The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
