SAMBA, July 18: One person died while another sustained serious in a road accident occurred near village Jamoda on Samba-Mansar Road.
The accident took place last night. The deceased and the injured persons were on its way from Samba to Udhampur on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK21C-5715 when suddenly their two-wheeler collided with a tipper (registration number JK14E-8050) coming from opposite direction.
With the help of local people and Mansar police, the injured was brought to Samba Hospital where after first aid, he was referred to the Government Hospital in Jammu while the body of the deceased was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites after getting conducted postmortem at Samba Hospital.
The deceased youth was identified as Rahul Sharma (21) son Romesh Kumar and the injured person was identified as Lekh Raj (40) son Omprakash, both residents of village Kehra, Pakhlai, District Udhampur.
The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter and launched a manhunt to nab the driver of the tipper, who had escaped from the crime spot taking advantage of darkness.
