One dies of Corona in Jammu, 59 new cases in Leh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Jan 1: One person died of COVID-19 in Jammu while no Corona casualties were reported in Kashmir today as 256 persons tested positive for virus and 248 recovered in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu region’s Corona count today crossed 50,000.
A 55-year-old man from Surankote tehsil of Poonch district died of COVID-19 and ailments in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
In Jammu region, 106 persons tested positive for Coronavirus, 72 of them in Jammu district, 14 Samba, seven Udhampur, four Reasi, three Kathua, two each Rajouri and Doda and one each in Kishtwar and Poonch districts while no cases were reported from Ramban district.
As many as 116 persons today recovered from the virus in the region, the maximum being 77 in Jammu district, 16 Udhampur, 12 Rajouri, six Doda, three Kishtwar and two in Kathua district. No recoveries were reported from rest of the districts.
With today’s positive cases, the Corona tally of Jammu region has crossed 50,000
The region now has 50044 cases including 1465 active positives while 47881 have recovered from the virus and there have been 698 casualties.
The casualties include 355 in Jammu district followed by 64 in Doda, 57 Udhampur, 54 Rajouri, 49 Kathua, 38 Kishtwar, 24 Samba, 21 each Kishtwar and Ramban districts and 15 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 59 new Corona cases, all in Leh district taking UT’s Corona count to 9525 including 246 active positives as 9152 persons have recovered from the virus.
Ladakh has so far reported 127 Corona casualties-84 in Leh and 43 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 150 fresh COVID-19 cases.
Those who tested positive include 61 from Srinagar, 10 Baramulla, 14 Budgam, 6 Kupwara, 26 Pulwama, 6 Anantnag, 5 Bandipora and 11 Ganderbal, 2 Kulgam and 9 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 25,376 positive cases including 450 deaths and 24,338 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,976 including 172 deaths and 7,689 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,618 including 7,364 recoveries and 108 deaths are from Budgam, 5,537 including 5,326 recoveries and 91 deaths are from Kupwara, 5,580 including 88 deaths and 5,323 recoveries are from Pulwama, 4,798 including 4,606 recoveries and 83 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,650 cases including 4,536 and 60 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,480 including 4,346 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,664 including 2,546 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,504 including 2,372 recoveries and 38 deaths are from Shopian.
With the fresh cases, the number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached 71,183 including 68,446 recoveries and 1,186 deaths.
The active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 3,010 including 1,551 from Kashmir division.
With 248 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 116,327 which is 95.95 percent of the total cases.
