JAMMU, July 12: Police claimed today that they have arrested an individual and recovered 13 litres of illicit liquor from his possession. Meanwhile, 200 litres of lahan made by the accused has also been destroyed by the police.
A police spokesperson said that an information was received through reliable sources that one Balkar Singh of Tacharwan Nardiwala, Tehsil Maira Mandrian, Akhnoor, was manufacturing illicit liquor at his home.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 195/2023 under sections 48(a), 48(e), 48(f) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and a special team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma was constituted to arrest the accused.
The team accordingly raided the suspected place and rounded up the accused, who was found selling and preparing illicit liquor.
Followed by this, police recovered 13 litres of illicit liquor from the possession of the accused and destroyed 200 litres of lahan on-the-spot.
Further investigation is on, added the police spokesperson.
