RAMBAN, Apr 29: One person was arrested today with 400 gram of charas in Banihal.
According to a police official, on a specific information, a special naka was laid at T Chowk, Banihal by Banihal police. He said during checking one pedestrian was asked to stop but he tried to flee, however, the pedestrian was overpowered and during frisking 16 challies of charas weighing 400 gram was recovered from his possession.
The challies were wrapped in a newspaper and polythene. The accused identified as Muzaafer Ahmed son of Nazir Ahmed Khattana, resident of Gupthal Dooligaam, was arrested on the spot and consignment seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No 59/18 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at police station Banihal and further investigations started. The arrest was made by Inspector Aejaz Wani, SHO Banihal, under the supervision of Dheeraj Singh Katoch, SDPO Banihal, Additional SP, Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban.
