JAMMU, May 24: One person was arrested today by the police for attempting rape on a minor girl in R S Pura area of city outskirts.
Quoting mother of the victim, Police sources told Excelsior that a young boy forcibly entered into the make shift house (Jhuggi) of a Bihari family near Nirankari Bhawan, Ward number 12 (RS Pura), early this morning and tried to rape an 11-year-old girl who was alone in the house. However, when the girl cried for help, the accused fled from the spot.
Sources said that on the complaint of the victim’s mother, a case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station RS Pura and the accused arrested. Further investigation into the case has been started, they added.
