RAMBAN, Dec 11: Police here today recovered 182 kg poppy straw while checking vehicles.
A team of cops from Police Station Batote led by PSI Neeraj Choudhary while checking vehicles at Nashri Naka stopped a truck bearing Regd. Number PB07BP-7005 coming from Kashmir.
On checking the vehicle cops found 11 bags containing one quintal 82 kg poppy straw hidden under loaded apple packed boxes.
Driver of the truck was arrested who said his name was Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi son of Bawa Singh resident of village Parowal Tehsil Garh Shankar District Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
A case in FIR No. 213/2022 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote in this regard and investigation started.
The recovery operation was carried out by police party headed by Inspector Sam Paul Gill, SHO Batote under the supervision of Pradeep Singh Sen, DySP Hqrs Ramban with the overall supervision of SP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
