KISHTWAR, Sept 17: During an operation here today a huge consignment of gelatin was recovered from a car by the police.
As per reports, on specific inputs a car of Alto make bearing registration number JK17A-3377 was stopped by cops at Zelana checking point on the outskirts of Kishtwar town.
During search of the car about 560 gelatin sticks weighing about 74 kg kept in two plastic crates were recovered.
Police has seized the car and arrested its driver Tariq Hussain, son of Abdul Latif, resident of Jawalapur.
In this context FIR with number 217/2023 under Section 4/5 of Explosive Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar.
Ruling out any militancy angle in this case, SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the material belonged to a contractor which was being transported from one place to another without adopting proper procedure.
