KISHTWAR, Apr 8: Police here today arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 70 gm charas like substance from him.
On the direction of SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal, a special team was constituted which was led by SHO Police Station Chatroo, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday alongwith Head Constable Noor Din and the team laid a Naka at Buttpora Passerkoot area of Chatroo under the supervision of DySP Dar Kishtwar, Sajjad Khan.
During extensive checking of vehicles and pedestrian cops noticed suspicious movement of a pedestrian who tried to escape cops but was overpowered by them and they recovered charas like substance weighing about 70 gm from him after which he was arrested.
The arrested person disclosed his identity as Bashir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rahim, resident of Mulwana, Tehsil Gudna in Doda.
In this regard a case in FIR No. 21/2023 U/Sec 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Chatroo and investigation taken-up.
