DODA, Feb 18: A drug peddler along with 1 kg Poppy straw was arrested by Doda police.
“During the intervening night of Thursday and Friday a police patrolling party led by PSI Ankush Nagara noticed one person carrying a bag with him in suspicious circumstances,” a police spokesman said.
He said on seeing the police party, the person tried to escape himself but after a brief chase the police party apprehended the person and recovered 1 kg of Narcotic substance (Poppy straw) on search of his bag.
“The accused man namely Waseem Ahmed son of Noor Mohd, resident of Udhyanpur (Doda) was arrested and the contraband was seized, “the spokesman said, adding, a case FIR Number 23/2022 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at police station Doda and further investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of Inspector Arun Sharma (SHO Police Station Doda) and Showkat Ahmed (Deputy SP DAR Doda).
