One held with poppy straw, another with charas

RAMBAN, Nov 19: The district police today arrested a drug peddler with 5 kg of poppy straw at Naka Point Shan Palace on National Highway (NHW) and another person with 293 gram of charas at Naka Point NHW Chanderkote.
The first accused was apprehended by a police party while doing routine naka checking of a truck bearing registration number JK12A-1217 in the jurisdiction of police station Ramban. On checking, approximately 5 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck.
In this connection, a case FIR number 198/2021 under Section 8/15 of NDPS Act was registered at police station Ramban and the accused identified as Mehfoz Khan son of Nisar Ahmed, resident of Lassana (tehsil Surankote, district Poonch) was arrested. Further investigation into the case was on.
The arrest and recovery was made by Inspector Sandeep Charak (SHO police station Ramban) under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarters Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen.
The second accused was arrested by Chanderkote police while doing routine naka checking at Naka Point NHW in its jurisdiction. The accused was identified as Anil Bakshi son of Harbans Lal, resident of Hari Singh Nagar (Rehari Colony, Jammu). In this connection, a case FIR number 148/2021 under section 8/20 of NDPS Act was registered at police station Chanderkote and further investigation taken up.
