JAMMU, May 26: Police in RS Pura area here claimed today they have arrested a history-sheeter and seized from his possession a sharp-edged weapon.
Navjot Singh alias Babbu of Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib was arrested on getting information that he was promoting criminal activities by using a sharp-edged weapon (toka), police said.
According to them, Singh is a notorious criminal who was wanted in multiple criminal cases, including those related to drug peddling.
He was also lodged in jail earlier under the PIT NDPS Act, said police, adding that his arrest is a major success for the police and relief for the people of the area due to his activities posing threat to the peace of the area.
The arrest was made by a team of Police Station R S Pura headed by SHO PS R S Pura under the close supervision of SDPO R S Pura & SP Headquarters Jammu, under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu.
