One killed, 1 hurt in two road mishaps

JAMMU, Oct 15: One person was killed and another injured in two separate road accidents occurred today in city and its outskirts.
According to police sources, a 42-year-old woman pedestrian namely Krishana Devi wife of Munshi Ram of Ramangar (at present living in Belicharana, Jammu) was hit and badly injured by a speeding bike at Dashmesh Nagar under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gangyal. The injured woman was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
“The body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities,” sources said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police Station Gangyal and efforts were on to nab the accused bike rider, who fled the spot after committing the crime.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man namely Abhay Kumar son of Baij Nath, resident of Bhagwati Nagar received grievous injuries after the scooty he was riding, got slipped at Canal Road. He was rushed to GMCH Jammu for medical treatment but later on his relatives took him outside J&K for specialized treatment. Police Post Canal Road had taken cognizance of the matter.
