UDHAMPUR, June 9: A female passenger died and 16 others were seriously injured when a minibus, they were travelling in, rolled down into a deep gorge near Battal Morh, here today.
Reports said that the minibus, bearing registration number JK21-6133, was on its way from Manwal to Nagrota when it met with the accident, about three km from Manwal.
The minibus skidded off the road and rolled down resulting into on the spot death of one passenger and critical injuries to 16 others.
After receiving information, SHO Majalta Inspector Kesar Singh along with Police team rushed to the spot and took the injured persons to PHC Majalta with the help of locals.
Doctors declared one of the injured as brought dead and referred 15 others to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu because of their critical condition. One injured was referred to Military Hospital Udhampur.
The deceased was identified as Maya Devi (57), wife of Chain Singh of Neeli.
One Pooja Devi was referred to MH Udhampur while those referred to GMC Hospital Jammu were identified as Manshi Sharma (16), daughter of Pardeep Kumar of Mansar, Ved Rani (17) daughter of Som Raj of Paldai, Sushma Devi (38), wife of Pardeep Kumar of Mansar, Neena Devi (25), wife of Uttam Chand of Palnoo, Manvi (7), daughter of Uttam Chand of Palnoo, Rohit (40), son of Sham Lal of Vijaypur Samba, Puja Devi (30), wife of Mansa Ram of Battal, Geeta Devi (32), wife of Parkash of Balpur, Kailash Devi (38), wife of Som Raj of Plater, Sadu Ram (55), son of Bhagat of Khoon, Bitto Devi (60) wife of Deto Ram of Gallak, Ramkot, Reeta Devi, wife of Kuldeep Kumar, Shoba (35), wife of Uttam Chand of Battal, Anita Devi (40) of Palter, Jannu (22) of Swankh Morh and Paby Rani (17) daughter of Som Raj.
