One killed, 16 injured in accidents

DODA, Feb 21: One person was killed, while sixteen others received injuries in road accidents at different areas of the district.
As per police sources, a Maruti Van was on its way to Dhara from Doda, when it met with an accident at Parvati area, resulting into on the spot death of one person and injuries to three others.
After getting information, police team and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Doda, where their condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
The body of the deceased identified as Ghulam Ali Shakar, son of Mohammad Abdullah, a resident of Parvati, Dhara was also shifted to mortuary room of District Hospital Doda for postmortem, which will be conducted tomorrow.
The injured have been identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sabar, a resident of Hanch, Nahinda Bano, daughter of Ghulam Ali and Mohsin, son of Ghulam Ali, both residents of Parvati.
Meanwhile, eleven passengers received injuries, when the Tata Sumo (JK06-3845) met with accident at Bhagwa Longath area, falling under the jurisdiction of Doda police station.
On getting information, police team and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Doda, where they were responding to the treatment, when reports last poured in.
The injured have been identified as Abdul Rashid, son of Mohdhu Khanji, Mohammad Farooq, son of Shamasdin, Mushtwaq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shaban, Zaffer Ullah, son of Sadiq Butt, Sajad, son of Anayatullah Khanji, Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Rashid, Firdoos Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadir, Shabir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi, Mohammad Iqbal, son of Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Haneef, son of Firdoos Ahmed and Altaf Hussain, son of Abdul Latief, all residents of Manwas.
In another accident, two youths received serious injuries, when the Maruti car they were traveling in, skidded off the road and rolled down into gorge near Prem Nagar area, here.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02B-2777 was on its way to Doda from Kishtwar, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it landed into deep gorge, resulting into serious injuries to two youths. The youths were going to Doda to attend SSB Examination.
Police team and locals rushed to the accident spot and started rescue operation. The injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Doda, from where they were later airlifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where their condition was stated to be out of danger, when reports last came in.
The injured have been identified as Danish Rasool, son of Gulam Rasool Ganaie, a resident of Hurna Durbeel, Mugal Maidan, District Kishtwar and Shafkat Hussain, son of Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Bagwan Mohalla, District Kishtwar.
A case in this regard has been registered at concerned police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Inderwal GM Saroori visited GMCH Jammu and enquired about the health of two injured persons. He assured all necessary assistance and directed GMCH authorities for providing specialized treatment to the patients.
MLC Firdous Tak also visited GMCH and enquired about the condition of the injured youths. He asked the doctors to ensure proper treatment of the injured persons and demanded financial assistance for them so as to enable them proper treatment.
