RAJOURI, Jan 21: One person was killed and 17 others were injured when a vehicle they were traveling in, met with an accident in Taryath area of Kalakote Sub Division and Budhal police station of Rajouri district on this afternoon.
A police spokesman said a mini-bus (Matador), bearing registration number JK02M- 8723 was on way to Pouni in Reasi from Taryath in Kalakote. The vehicle went out of control and overturned on the road. The injured passengers alleged that vehicle was being driven rashly by the driver. Moreover, a loud music system was being played in this passenger vehicle. Amidst this, the vehicle being driven negligently went out of control and overturned on the roadside.

One passenger died on the spot and 17 others were injured in this mishap. The deceased has been identified as Pritam Lal, son of Ishar Das, a resident of Narlam Bambal, Khawas in Rajouri.
The police official said that as soon as the information was received, a police party from Taryath rushed to the spot and the injured were shifted to hospitals at Taryath, Sunderbani and Kalakote.
The body of the deceased was later handed over to the family after post-mortem and completing other legal formalities. Police have registered a case, seized the vehicle and started further investigation.
The injured have been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Bansi Lal, a resident of Thangriot; Mohammad Arif, son of Mohammad Younis, resident of Khorbani; Gulab Jaan, wife of Mohammad Bashir, resident of Kalakot; Aku Akhtar; Nisha Devi wife of Jagdish Lal from Arnas; Mohammad Altaf, son of Iqbal, resident of Reasi; Jagdish Lal, resident of Arnas Reasi; Mohammad Jameel, son of Abdul Ghani from Narla; Mohammad Sakhi Khan, son of Sadiq Khan, resident of Kerry Taryath; Maroon Khan from Taryath; Indu Devi, wife of Joginder Pal from Gulabgarh; Joginder Pal, son of Baldev Raj, resident Gulabgarh; Shakuntala Devi, wife of Kamal Singh, resident of Kerry Taryath; Mamta Devi, daughter of Kamal Singh from Kerry; Anu Devi, daughter of Kamal Singh, resident of Kerry Taryath; Farina Begum, wife of Sakhi and Fullan Begum, residents of Birpur near Jammu.
