One killed, 2 hurt as vehicle plunges into gorge

DODA/KISHTWAR, Jan 6: A minor was killed in a road accident in Doda and two others were injured when the vehicle they were onboard fell into a gorge today.
As per police sources, the ill fated vehicle was a load carrier bearing registration number JK17A-8038 and it skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge on Drabshalla-Kishtwar road.

Immediately after the accident cops along with local volunteers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to CHC Thathri for medical treatment.
The injured were identified as Mohd Rafiq, 40, son of Abdul Suban; Arbaz Hussain, 17, son of Mohd Rafi and Sahil Hussain, 14, son of Javed Ahmed-all residents of Pani Nallah, Drabshalla.
All injured persons further shifted to GMC Doda for treatment where Sahil Hussain succumbed to his injuries.
Police has registered an FIR in this regard and started investigation.
Meanwhile, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team along with local police in Kishtwar today recovered the body of missing driver, who along with one another person got missing after their vehicle plunged into Machail Nallah leaving four others dead.
The deceased driver whose body has been recovered today has been identified as Ashish alias Sahil, son of Chuni Lal, resident of Gadh, Padder.
When contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Javed Iqbal Mir informed that SDRF team along with local police was on job to retrieve the body of one more missing person but due to darkness they have closed the search operation which will now resume in the morning tomorrow.
