One killed, 4 injured in road accidents

UDHAMPUR, Aug 1: A pedestrian was knocked to death by a seeding vehicle near Chenani-Nashri tunnel while four persons were injured in different road accidents across Udhampur, here today.
A Mahindra load carrier hit one pedestrian, who was walking on the roadside near Chenani- Nashri tunnel around 12 noon today.
Locals and police rushed to the spot and took the injured person CHC Chenani where doctors declared him as brought dead. The deceased was identified as Jagdish Kumar (40), son of Mangat Ram of Mdlot Kud.
Driver fled the scene after accident but Police arrested him and also seized his vehicle.
In another road accident, a Gas Tanker bearing registration number JK02AS-0995 and on way from Kashmir to Jammu, rolled down into deep gorge near Bali Nallah early this morning. Police rushed to the spot and took the driver and Conductor to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred the injured persons to GMC Hospital Jammu Hospital in view of their serious condition.
The injured were identified as driver Gurcharn Singh (40), son of Sohan Singh of Bishnha Jammu and Conductor Gourav Nath (22), son of Pritam Chand of Purmandal in Samba District.
Meanwhile a motorcycle skidded off the road at Dhar Road resulting into injuries to one Mahadev Singh (17), son of Bakil Singh of Raoun Domail Udhampur.
In a similar accident, another motorcycle skidded off the road near Omara Morh Udhampur. Locals shifted the injured motorcyclist to District Hospital Udhampur, where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu. The injured was identified as Police Constable Vijay Kumar, son of Sansar Chand, posted at SKPA Udhampur.
