One killed, 5 injured as trawler collides with tipper

SAMBA, June 1: One person was killed while five were injured after a trawler carrying goods collided with a tipper at Samba today.
According to reports a trawler bearing number PV 13 Q 4887 which was on its way to Jammu from Punjab collided with four vehicles including a tipper, an auto, 210 Mahindera and a bus at Main Chowk Samba where these vehicles were parked resulting into death of one person and injury to five others.
The dead has been identified as Shamsher Singh, son of Nar Singh resident of Goran Samba. The injured were identified as Karam Chand, Surinder Kour, Punam Kumari, Vinod Kumar and Satish Kumar.
The body of Singh was handed over to his relatives after postmortem at Samba district Hospital while the injured are undergoing treatment in the said hospital. The Samba Police has registered a case. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.
The people of the area alleged that the traffic jam in the Samba Chowk has been the main cause of accidents in the town. They said the parking of vehicles and installation of rehris and faris by the people in the Chowk has been the cause of traffic congestion in the area.
They accused the district administration of being a mute spectator to the same with the result the fatal accidents are taking place in the market.
