RAJOURI, Mar 28: One person was killed while 56 others injured when an over loaded bus rolled down into a gorge in Lam area of Nowshera sector today.
Official sources said that mishap took place at around 10 am when the ill-fated vehicle No. JK-11/9521 was on way to Nowshera from Pukherni/ Ladoka. When it reached near Debetta, while giving passage to another vehicle, the lower side protection wall collapsed and the over loaded vehicle rolled down into a gorge.
Immediately after the accident army (RR) from the nearby unit rushed to the site. The locals also joined rescue operation. Addl SP Amit Verma and SHO Nowshera Rajesh Jasrotia also reached there after some time and they shifted the injured to Nowshera hospital.
One of them succumbed to injuries. He has been identified as Lal Hussain (65), Son of Lal Din, resident of Pukherni in Lam. About half of dozen have sustained serious injuries and were referred to GMC Jammu.
Total 56 persons were injured and among them 33 are females. 19 were shifted to GMC Rajouri. Police has taken cognizance.
