JAMMU, Oct 23: A youth was killed while another was injured seriously when the bike they were travelling on, was hit by a mini-bus late last night at Mishriwala area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, Abhey Kumar (18) son of Bua Ditta, a resident of Dabh Karamdin in Kanachak area of city outskirts, along with another youth identified as Sethi Kumar (18) son of Tarsem Lal, a resident of Sohanjana, was going on their bike bearing registration number JK02AM-3742 when a speeding mini-bus bearing registration number hit their two-wheeler at Mishriwala.
Both Abhey and Sethi sustained serious injuries in the mishap and were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Abhey was declared as brought dead.
After conducting post mortem today, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. A case in this connection has been registered at police station Kanachak and both the vehicles involved in the accident seized. However, the driver of the mini-bus managed to flee from the spot and was still absconding.
