One killed, another injured in security force firing in Kashmir

SRINAGAR:
A man was killed and another injured  when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators at Pattan in north Kashmir district of Baramulla this evening.
Official sources confirmed the incident stating that security force resorted to firing to disperse demonstrators who had blocked road at Palhalan Pattan. It was not immediately clear why they were protesting.
A police spokesman said that in a law and order situation in village Palhalan, Pattan two people sustained injuries in the firing incident.
One of the injured Farooq Ahmad Bhat succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. Another injured person Riyaz Ahamad Bhat of Palhalan  is undergoing treatment in hospital. He said Police has taken cognizance into this highly regrettable and unfortunate incident.
An FIR has been registered into the matter. The incident is being investigated and all concerned are being questioned to ascertain the facts.
Meanwhile, moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) has called for a general strike tomorrow in protest against the firing by security forces. (AGENCIES)
