JAMMU, Apr 10: One person was killed, while five persons were injured, when a Maruti car collided head on with a tractor trolley at Serded on Katra-Reasi road.
Additional SP Katra Mohan Lal said that, a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02R-6900 was on its way to Reasi from Jammu, when it collided head on with a tractor trolley (JK20-2831) at Serded and later both the vehicle plunged into the deep gorge. He added that the car occupants were going to attend a marriage ceremony at Reasi.
On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot, started rescue operation and shifted the injured to Katra hospital, where doctors declared driver of the Maruti car identified as Abdul Majid, son of Fasal Din of Sidhra as brought dead, he said.
The injured were identified as Rashid Ahmed, son of Kaku, Mohd Sadiq, son of Kala Khan and Irfan, all residents of Ragoora, Sidhra, Zakir Hussain, son of Bashir Ahmed and Talib Hussain, both residents of district Reasi, ASP informed.
Later, Rashid Ahmed was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advance treatment, while the condition of others was stated to be out of danger, when last reports came in, ASP added.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Katra police station and further investigation into the case is going on.
