One killed, four injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Feb 2: A youth was killed while four others including a woman injured in separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a youth identified as Ranjeet Singh (22) son of Nashater Singh, a resident of Domana, suffered serious injuries when the bike on which he was riding was hit by a speeding bus at Dhiarn on Jammu-Akhnoor road.
The mishap occurred this afternoon when the youth was going towards Bawe Talab and the bus was coming from Akhnoor towards Jammu.
The locals rushed the seriously injured youth to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
Meanwhile, Kanachak police seized both the vehicles involved in the accident and registered a case under relevants sections against accused bus driver, who managed to flee from the spot.
In another case, two bike-borne youths were injured when their two-wheeler collided with a car at Sidhra. The injured have been identified as Vinod Kumar (25) son of Hem Raj, a resident of Talab Tillo and Rahul Sharma, son of Madan Lal of Bohri.
An 8-year old boy received injuries after being hit by an unknown vehicle at Nai Basti area of Satwari. The injured boy has been identified as Krishna son of Madan Lal, a resident of Nai Basti.
A woman identified as Sonika Manhas (30) wife of Kulwant Singh, a resident of Miran Sahib, was also injured when the scooty she was travelling on, was hit by a load carrier at Jewel area of city.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. In all cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance.
