RAMBAN, Oct 27: A fatal collision occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Dalwass area of Chanderkote in the early hours of Sunday.
According to police sources, a truck bearing the registration number PB02EJ-8857, travelling from Srinagar to Jammu, collided with a chicken carrier vehicle (Junga) with registration number JK01AR-3269, which was coming from the opposite direction. The incident took place around 1 am.
The crash critically injured Mohammad Sadiq, the conductor of the chicken carrier, who was immediately taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Batote. Tragically, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors. Mohammad Sadiq, son of Faroor Agned Awan, was a resident of Kupwara, Kashmir.
After conducting postmortem and completing legal formalities at CHC Batote, the authorities handed over Sadiq’s body to his family. Inspector JS Ralwal, SHO of Chanderkote Police Station, confirmed the incident and stated that an FIR under Sections 281/106/125(a) BNS was registered in this connection.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
