One killed in mishap, two accident victims succumb

JAMMU, Jan 17: A man was killed today in a hit and run case in Purkhoo area of city outskirts while two victims of road accidents today succumbed to their injuries here at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
According to a police official, a mentally unstable man identified as Sudesh Kumar (55) son of late Bhagwan Dass Gupta, resident of Ashok Nagar (Satwari), was hit and killed on the spot by an unknown vehicle during the intervening night January 16 and 17, on Jammu-Akhnoor near Sham Mill, Purkhoo. His dead body was recovered this morning.
The official said after postmortem, the body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Kanachak.
Meanwhile, a woman namely Rattno Devi wife of Tarsem Lal, resident of Tinde (R S Pura), was shifted here at GMCH on January 11 after she received serious injuries in a road mishap at Tinde. However, the woman succumbed to his injuries today at about 1: 55 PM.
Similarly, an old man identified as Sewa Ram (75) son of Rugal Ram, resident of Vijaypur had sustained serious injuries in a road accident at Bandrali. On December 2, he was shifted to GMCH Jammu, where he expired today at 3.55 PM.
Both the dead bodies were shifted to mortuary room of the hospital while the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter in both the cases.
