SAMBA, Sept 2: One person died after he was crushed by a speedy bus on Jammu -Pathankote National Highway near Bus Stand here.
He has been identified as Kartar Chnad, son of Bua Ditta of village Katali, Samba.
According to police the deceased person was standing on road side when a Punjab Roadways bus bearing Registration No PB 02AU-9940 which was in fast speed tried to overtake another super fast bus bearing number JK08B-1699 which was on its way to Kathua to Jammu and crushed Kartar Chand who was standing on roadside.
This evoked a strong protest from masses who tried to block the Highway. But the SSP Samba Anil Magotra reached the spot and pacified the agitating people. They demanded immediate shifting of the Bus Stand to new Bus Stand as often accidents took place at this spot due to stopping of buses. The Police has registered a case and seized both the buses.
