One killed, seven injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Mar 1: A person was killed while seven others were injured today in separate road accidents occurred in outskirts of this winter capital of the State.
According to a police spokesman, a speeding mini-bus bearing registration number JK02AL-7075 carrying about 15-20 labourers was on its way from Railway Station Jammu to Gharota this evening when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it turned turtle before hitting the parapet on Jammu-Gharota road near police station Janipur.
“In the mishap, a labourer identified as Bal Ram Naik (20) son of Palao Ram, resident of Odisha, received serious injuries while other labourers escaped unhurt. The injured labourer was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the spokesman said, adding, body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
Another mishap occurred today around 1 AM on Jammu-Akhnoor Road near Apna Dawa Bazaar, where a speeding tipper bearing registration number JK02X-1535 hit a car number JK12-1602. In the mishap, four occupants of the car sustained injuries and were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. They were identified as Abdul Hamid (40) son of Jamal Din, Abdul Shaqoor (30) son of Mohd Latief, Mohd Sharif (40) son of, Ali Mohd, all residents of Surankote and Mohd fazal (50) son of Ghulam Din, resident of Banwat (Poonch).
An elderly woman namely Pushpa Devi (75) wife of late Krishan Lal, resident of Nanak Nagar, was hit and injured by a speeding school bus at Nanak Nagar. The injured woman was hospitalized. Two youth namely Sameer son of Manzoor Ahmed and Umar son of Abdul latief, both residents of Sidhra, were injured when the bike on which they were travelling, got slipped at Sidhra. They were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
