JAMMU, Feb 16: One person was killed while six others were injured today in four separate road accidents.
According to a police spokesman, a pedestrian identified as Neelam Devi (55) wife of Rashpal Pandey, a resident of Ward No 5, Shanker Nagar, Gangyal, received serious injuries when a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BA-1067 hit her at Kunjwani this evening.
The injured woman was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting post mortem tomorrow. A case in this connection was registered at concerned police station.
At Suketar in the jurisdiction of police station Jhajjar Kotli, a speeding car hit with roadside rock and turned turtle. In the mishap, four occupants of the car suffered injuries and were shifted to GMCH for treatment. The injured have been identified as Ved Mitra (35) son of Amar Nath, Sham Singh (35) son of Krishan Singh, Vakeel Singh (34) son of Sobha Ram and Som Singh (34) son of Krishan Singh, all residents of Reasi.
A motorcyclist identified as Ashwani Sharma son of Om Parkash and his pillion rider Balwinder Singh, both residents of Ponch, were injured when the bike on which they were travelling from Poonch to Jammu, collided with a parapet near Soura, tonight. The injured persons were immediately taken to a Government hospital in Chowki Choura from where they were later referred to Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor.
A pedestrian namely Bashir Ahmed son of Mehmood, a resident of Rajbagh, Kathua, was hit and injured by a motorcyclist in Narwal area. The injured was shifted to GMCH for treatment and the accused motorcyclist namely Vicky Singh son of Tarsem Singh of Gurkha Nagar, was arrested. The bike of the accused was also seized by the police.
