JAMMU, Aug 19: A 22-year old girl was killed while three others including two real sisters were injured in two separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, two young girls identified as Rassmeet Kour (22) daughter of Hardeep Singh, a resident of Sunderbani and Preet Pal Kour (18) daughter of Tirlok Singh, a resident of Pouni (Reasi), were seriously injured when a truck bearing registration No JK02V-7695 hit the bike bearing registration No PB08BU-4423 they were going on, at fourth Tawi bridge falling under the jurisdiction of police post Canal Road.
On getting information, a police team headed by Incharge, police post Canal Road, SI Sandeep Charak, reached the spot and rushed the injured girls to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where Rasmeet was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The body of the deceased girl was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting postmortem tomorrow. A case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station and both the vehicles involved in the accident seized. Moreover, the accused truck driver namely Barkat Ali, a resident of Poonch, was arrested by the police.
In another accident near DC Office, Jammu, two real sisters were injured when the scooty they were going on was hit by an unknown vehicle. The injured girls have been identified as Shahnaz (24) and Sabar (22) both daughters of Amjad Farooq of Peer Mitha, Jammu. The injured sisters were shifted to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
