One killed, two injured as truck hits bike

JAMMU, Mar 1: A man was killed while two of his brothers were injured when the bike they were travelling on, was hit by a rashly driven truck in RS Pura area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, three brothers were travelling on a bike registration number JK02BE-6922 when a truck bearing registration number JK02AS-5547 coming from opposite side hit the bike in the village Draptan of RS Pura, resulting into on spot death of one and injuries to two others.
The deceased was identified as Chamail Singh son of Brita Ram, a resident of Gharana while the injured were identified as Mohinder Kumar and Satpal.
He said that the injured were immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu while the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem at a Government Hospital in RS Pura.
“In this connection, a case FIR No 29/16 under Sections 279/337 and 304 A was registered at police station RS Pura and the accused truck driver arrested”, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian identified as Raman Kumar son of Bal Krishan, a resident of Shastri Nagar, was hit and injured by an unknown vehicle at Gujjar Nagar bridge. He was also shifted to GMCH for treatment.
